Terms and Conditions

Fjords of Bergen

These Terms and Conditions apply to all charters and services provided by Fjord Chartering AS, operating under the brand Fjords of Bergen.

By confirming a booking, the client acknowledges and accepts the terms set out below.

1. General Principles

We are committed to providing our guests with a safe, premium, and memorable experience. We will always act in good faith and do our best to accommodate guest preferences regarding itineraries, activities, hospitality, and local services.

However, certain circumstances are beyond our control. For this reason, the following terms and conditions apply to all bookings.

2. Cancellations by the Customer

All cancellations must be submitted in writing by email to: post@fjordsofbergen.no

The following refund policy applies, calculated from the scheduled start date of the charter:

  • 40 days or more before departure: 100% refund

  • 39-21 days before departure: 75% refund

  • 20-10 days before departure: 25% refund

  • 9 days or less before departure: No refund. The full charter fee remains payable.

3. Cancellations Due to Weather or Safety (Captain’s Decision)

The captain has full authority to cancel or modify a cruise if weather conditions, sea state, or other safety-related factors make the voyage unsafe. Such decisions are rare and always made in the interest of passenger safety.

  • Cancellation before departure: 100% refund or no payment required.

  • Cancellation during the cruise: The client will only be charged for the portion of the cruise or services already delivered. Any remaining amount will be refunded.

4. Cancellations Due to Guest Conduct

If the captain determines that a cruise must be cancelled due to:

  • inappropriate or unsafe behavior by guests, or

  • failure to follow safety instructions,

the cruise may be terminated immediately.

In such cases, no refund will be issued.

5. Technical Issues

If technical conditions related to the vessel or onboard equipment make it unsafe or impossible to commence or continue the cruise, the captain may cancel all or part of the charter.

  • Any unused portion of the cruise will be refunded.

  • Fjords of Bergen shall not be liable for indirect losses or expenses arising from such cancellations.

6. Passenger Requirements

All passengers must be physically able to:

  • embark and disembark the vessel safely,

  • navigate stairs and boarding steps without assistance.

We reserve the right to deny boarding if safety requirements cannot be met.

7. Private Quays and Docking

If the charter involves arrival or departure from a private quay, the client is responsible for ensuring that:

  • the quay is structurally sound, and

  • safe for use by the vessel and passengers.

If the captain deems a quay unsafe, arrival or departure at that location may be refused. An alternative nearby quay will be used when possible. This does not constitute grounds for cancellation or refund.

8. Liability

Fjord Chartering AS is not responsible for delays, route changes, or cancellations caused by weather, sea conditions, technical issues, or safety considerations.

Participation in the cruise is at the guest’s own risk, subject to applicable Norwegian law.

9. Customer Support and Rights

We are always available to assist our guests and address any issues that may arise during the charter. We commit to acting with honesty, transparency, and professionalism at all times.

Nothing in these Terms limits your statutory rights under Norwegian consumer protection laws.

10. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by and interpreted in accordance with Norwegian law.

Any disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of Norwegian courts.
